Arada recognised by Ruler of Sharjah during American University of Sharjah alumni reunion

News: 2 February 2020

Arada was recently recognised by HH Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, at the American University of Sharjah (AUS)’s Annual Alumni Reunion, which saw thousands of graduates, faculty and business leaders gather at the campus.

Arada’s Business Development Director, Rosa Piro, was presented with an award that commemorated Arada’s longstanding partnership with one of the Middle East’s most successful educational institutions from HH Sheikh Dr Sultan.

Held on Friday 31 January at AUS, the event also featured a speech from the Ruler of Sharjah, who detailed the investment into various new projects related to the university, and wished those present all the best with their future endeavours.

Arada’s partnership with AUS has already allowed students from the university’s College of Architecture, Art and Design to conceptualise a pavilion in Aljada, the developer’s lifestyle community located adjacent to University City.

The AUS Pavilion is a structure located in the focal point of Aljada, the Central Hub, the masterplan for which is being designed by Zaha Hadid Architects. Scheduled to be completed this year following the year-long course at AUS, the pavilion constitutes a space for the public to gather in and around and will be architecturally innovative in its design.

During the event, Arada also sponsored a raffle prize in the form of a night’s stay, full board, at Sharjah Collection’s Al Faya Lodge. The hotel, based near Jebel Faya deep in the Sharjah desert, was named as one of the world’s top 10 new hotels for 2019 by top British architecture and design magazine Dezeen.

American University of Sharjah is the seventh-highest ranked university in the Arab world, according to QS World University Rankings, and 371st highest overall. The institution’s aim is to be the top-ranked university in the Arab world in the near future.
