Aljada and Al Janah Pavilion scoop two top awards for landscaping at major local ceremony

News: 20 November 2023

Arada’s longstanding focus on creating exceptional public realm and beautiful landscaping has been recognized with two major awards at the Landscape Middle East Sustainability Awards 2023, which were held on 15 November at Atlantis The Royal, Dubai.

The judging panel for the awards recognised Sharjah’s largest mixed-use project, Aljada, in the Urban Landscape category.

Spread over a 24 million square foot area, the Aljada master plan comprises residential, entertainment and commercial components, all designed around extensive parks and green landscaping.

Receiving the Urban Landscape Award on behalf of Arada was Graham Alderslade, Director of Landscape, who helmed the design, implementation and maintenance of the lush green spaces that characterise Aljada.

Arada and American University of Sharjah (AUS) also picked up the Landscape Art and Landmark Award for the Al Janah Pavilion, a collaborative project located at Aljada that was designed by students from the university’s College of Art, Architecture and Design.

Arada’s Senior Creative Director, Melissa Bayik, was joined by Associate Professor Jason Carlow, head of the Department of Architecture at AUS to receive the award.

The Landscape Middle East Sustainability Awards 2023 were hosted by Landscape Magazine in association with The International Federation of Landscape Architects Middle East and The Saudi Society of Landscape Architects. This international event promotes the landscape profession and highlights sustainable development throughout the Middle East.  The Al Janah Pavilion previously won the Open International award at the American Institute of Architects (AIA) 2021 Design Awards, while the Masaar master community won the Master Plan Project of the Year category at the Design Middle East Awards 2022.
